CAMP COPE announce Album Tour this May

“It’s clear the band’s forthcoming debut is going to be fucking terrific” – The Music

With just under a month until they release their self-titled debut album, Melbourne’s CAMP COPE are stoked to announce their album launch tour dates. The 5-date tour this May will see the indie-punk trio play limited capacity shows down the east coast and across to Adelaide following the strong reception to lead single ‘Jet Fuel Can’t Melt Steel Beams’. Tickets will be available at the door for all shows bar Melbourne, which you can purchase from the John Curtin.

Their latest single ‘Jet Fuel Can’t Melt Steel Beams’ has fast become a favourite around the country, scoring an add to FBi and support from numerous triple j presenters with Dom Alessio naming Camp Cope “rising stars of the Melbourne punk scene.” The track follows the all-too-familiar story of victim blaming and bandaid ‘solutions’ to street harassment from those who are meant to protect us, rather than perpetrators taking responsibility for their actions and resolving social issues at their core.

Earlier this month Camp Cope were national support to Jeff Rosenstock and played a staggering 11 shows across 4 states in 13 days, performing songs from their forthcoming debut. It was around these shows they were given the ‘buzz band’ tip – and it’s no longer a dirty word. Hysteria Magazine notes, “The difference between a “buzz band” and a “hype band” is that people actually come to watch buzz bands, and the room is almost full by the time Camp Cope begin their set.”

Camp CopeGeorgia Maq (vocals/guitar), Kelly-Dawn Hellmrich (bass) and Sarah Thompson(drums) – have made it okay to enjoy feeling angst again. Local supports will be announced – don’t miss your chance to see them live in action this May.

Georgia plays the drums, has a killer music taste and is one of our oldest friends. She's also a lawyer so she's way smarter than you. If you see her around town, don't be shy, say hi.
