BANK OF MELBOURNE ANNOUNCES 2015
MELBOURNE MUSIC BANK WINNER, JADE ALICE
After being inundated with triple the number of last year’s song submissions from Victorian music artists, Bank of Melbourne is thrilled to crown Melbourne’s Jade Alice as the 2015 Melbourne Music Bankwinner.
Hundreds of submissions were narrowed down to 12 finalists and Victorians showed their overwhelming support for homegrown musical talent, with almost 10,000 voters selecting four semi-finalists; DL, Jade Alice, Napier and Sam O’Connell.
The final four performed their songs on the largest stage in the southern hemisphere, Arts Centre Melbourne’s State Theatre at last week’s Melbourne Music Bank finale. An expert panel crowned Jade Alice the winner for her quirky, fun pop songKickdrum. The panel featured campaign ambassador Ella Hooper, Bank of Melbourne Head of Brand and Marketing Jac Phillips, Beat Editor Cara Williams, PBS Homebrew host Maddy Mac, 123 Agency Director Damo Costin, Varrasso PR Director Frank Varrasso and respected manager Chris Robinson.
“We were thrilled to uncover more Victorian musical talent at this year’s Melbourne Music Bank. We’re all about supporting music makers, and receiving triple the number of submissions this year proves that this is Australia’s creative capital,” says Jac Phillips, Bank of Melbourne’s Head of Brand & Marketing. “Jade Alice will have the best start in the music industry, supported by a team of professionals. We’re so proud of our four finalists for their outstanding live performances.”
Jade Alice studied music and music performance in year 12, and is currently studying Interactive Composition at the Victorian College of the Arts. She counts artists Kimbra, Joni Mitchell and Broods among her influences. Jade Alice says, “I can’t thank Bank of Melbourne enough for this incredible opportunity. I’m so grateful to everyone who voted and supported me – this is the most valuable experience a musician could hope for. I had the best night of my life surrounded by people exploding with talent, and I look forward to what lies ahead!”
Jade Alice wins two days of recording at Melbourne’s famous Sing Sing studios, a film clip by Oh Yeah Wow, album artwork, printed CDs and the chance to have her winning song featured in a Bank of Melbourne TV ad.
