Splendour In The Grass 2016 lineup is here! Bear Family’s must see’s!

7

Splendour, a magical time of year! Everybody loves a good Splendour. The atmosphere, the mud, the music, the Bay Kebab ‘Seafood Special’. It’s a pilgrimage for many a music lover- young, old, trendy, ugly, whoever! Everyone flocks to Byron in the depths of winter to experience the Splendour magic and this year will no doubt see a full house once again.

The guys at Splendour have just dropped their Lineup for 2016 and It’s HUGE!

Here are a couple of our picks for Splendour 2016:

SIGUR ROS

sigur

The boys from Iceland make music as beautiful as the landscapes that envelop Iceland’s Highway 1. Serene, powerful, mesmerizing- Sigur Ros are unmissable- my tip is that Sigur Ros closing out the GW McClennan tent in 2016 will be one of the ‘wish I’d been there’ moments. Don’t be that guy. Do your ears a favour and be there for these chaps.

JAGWAR MA

Autosave-File vom d-lab2/3 der AgfaPhoto GmbH

Jagwar Ma’s show at the Metro in 2014 was my first taste of indie-dance trio and they blew me away. And then they blew me away again at Laneway that same year. And then I listened to their debut album Howlin’ on repeat for the remainder of the year.I loved em’. It’s been a cold, desolate 2015 without the Jagwar boys in my life, so I am stoked to see them return to my eyes and ears at Splendour 2016. Did someone say ‘new material?’

NGAIIRE

Ngaiire-1

Pint sized and full of sass, Ngaiire has one of Australia’s most impressive voices and her backup singers’ dance moves are worth the $375 ticket price alone. With a new album on the way, make sure you track her down at Splendour and witness Ngaiire for yourself in the flesh.

SAMPA THE GREAT

sampa

Sampa recently opened for KENDRICK. Bloody Kendrick! She’s bound for worldwide fame and is one of Australia’s finest exports. And you can bet your ass Remi will join her on stage at some stage for the absolute tuuuune For Good.

JAMES BLAKE

jamesblake

James hasn’t been here for a while, and I for one have been waiting longer than most, having foolishly missed his most recent Splendour set in 2013 AND his set in 2011. With album number 3 on the way, Mr Blake is sure to be one of the most hyped acts of the weekend. And he’s really good at tennis!
