Where to Eat?
‘Mandoo’, a tiny Korean restaurant in the CBD. The handmade dumplings are delicious! There’s usually a line up down the street from open til close.
Where to Drink?
The Wheatsheaf Hotel in Thebarton. The vibe is great, there’s a rotating range of boutique beers on tap and there’s top notch live music. There are several distinct areas for different moods and weathers as well.
Where to Airbnb?
A quiet part in the Adelaide Hills, such as Basket Range. It’s so beautiful around there that you’d be happy just to stay put, but there’s also plenty of exploring to do in the hills, from wineries to bush walks.
Where to Party?
For one weekend a year, Womadelaide! 4 days full of awesome music, and djs every night under the stars in Botanic Park.
Where to eat at 2am?
Late night dining is not Adelaide’s strong point.. best to make sure you’ve got ingredients at home for an emergency toastie.
Where to find your new favourite band?
The Grace Emily Hotel (CBD). The owners are truly good people. They’ve done (and continue to do) a lot of good for the music scene in Adelaide, by supporting local artists of many styles and levels. You’ll find your new favourite solo performer or 10-piece band on that little stage, and they have the liveliest Open Mic in Adelaide, every Monday night.
Where to escape the tourists?
There’s not much to escape… Adelaide is a well-kept secret!
Where to spend your hungover days?
Lying under a shady tree in the Botanic Gardens.
What to complain about with other locals?
The public transport system.
The ultimate Adelaide must have?
An “SA, Heaps Good” hoodie.
