The Love Junkies- Bear family

FRESH FRIDAYS! This week’s top new tracks

10

It’s Friday again, and that means two things- you’re body’s temple is about to be desecrated and a whole bunch of hot new tracks have been birthed into the world.

This week again we’ve  put together our picks for your listening pleasure over the weekend, be it at your best mates’ pre drinks on Saturday night or as you crawl into your doona on a Sunday afternoon.

Nussy- Sinking into You

Nussy- bear family

This track begins with what sounds like some kind of devilishly funky horse hoof-steps and immediately gets those shoulders a-jiving. A laid back verse then drops you into a dreamy chorus with groove reminiscent of Glass Animals. Nussy has brought the goods in this one and is sure to pick you up from your hungover nightmare on a Sunday afternoon- best served with a Bloody Mary on a sunny balcony somewhere.

BANFF x Caitlin Park- My Love, My Lover

Banff Caitlin Park bear Family

Brisbane’s BANFF and Sydney’s Caitlin Park have thrown aside their state of origin debating to team up in the studio with My Love, My Lover. Whilst the track doesn’t stray far stylistically from the very much in vogue ‘Aussie battler’ songwriting style that has dominated airwaves in 2015/16, the combination of heart wrenching lyrics and vocal back and forth forces the song into your insides to make you feel all warm and fuzzy. A great track to help mend a sore head after one too many Wet Pussies at the backpacker bar.

The Love Junkies- I Had a Party Once

The Love Junkies- Bear family

Aah The Love Junkies– what a great bunch of fellahs. Who doesn’t love a band ready to have a bit of fun. After splitting across the US Fear and Loathing style, the guys have come out of it all with a big college following and  a brand new video to accompany their latest single I had a party once. The track starts off a little off-kilter- Cold War Kids style, before launching into a chorus The Refused would be proud of. All it did was rile me up. I’m excited. Let’s have a punch on in the car park. Definite Pre-drinks material. Check out the video here-you’ll love it.

Halcyon Drive- Flash

Halcyon Drive- Bear Family

You may remember Bear Family having a lot of love for a Halcyon Drive single Reset late last year. It was a grade A certified organic cruelty free banger. So you can imagine my eager little face upon receiving a copy of the Melbourne 3 piece’s EP Untethered this morning. Flash was an instant standout, intriguing from the outset-combining the best elements of 2007 era Electro Pop with the stylish swagger of Michael Oechsle’s vocals, giving the track a real oomph. I bet you wanna listen to it don’t ya? Well you can! Their EP is streaming for FREE on Soundcloud and if you like what you hear they are heading on tour pretty damn soon- head to their website for details and tickets.
