It’s Fresh Friday everyone! As is tradition we like to bring you the best new stuff from the deepest darkest corners of the interwebs.
This Friday is a special one for us, as we get to introduce to you and to the world JULIAN WA.
We don’t know too much about Julian Wa (he/she/they?), all we know is we love their music. Julian Wa has just released their very first EP, a self titled number that is sure to intrigue you as it has us since it fell across our desk.
The EP sounds quite DIY, a blend of hypnotic electronica (Take Me Over) and campfire acoustic-folk (Follow Me), combining to make a short 5 track journey through the intricacies and experimentation of Julian Wa‘s eclectic songwriting style.
Bloom is a track that may polarise it’s listeners somewhat. The track changes direction at multiple junctures throughout, changing pace and intensity without warning and/or structure. Almost Grizzly Bear- like in it’s originality and bold style.
Filled with shorter, ‘interlude’ style songs, which nicely tie the whole thing together, Julian Wa-Julian Wa may not be your usual ‘indie-pop’ radio hit, but it’s certainly the most interesting thing we’ve come across in a long, long time.
